Definition: External MBKM is MBKM held outside the University of Surabaya campus. It can take the form of student exchanges, internships, teaching assistance, research, humanitarian projects, entrepreneurship, independent studies, and village development.
Students contact the Head of the Lab/Coordinator Program, who is suitable for their program, to consult about the MBKM content and its feasibility. Students fill out the MBKM data collection form by attaching the type of MBKM, company/partner name data, a brief description, agency supervisor, total credits for recognition, and courses to be recognized. The Head of Lab/Coordinator Program determines the student's supervisor.
The Head of Lab/Prog pays attention to:
MBKM content must be related to the Information Technology (IT) field
MBKM content allows students to apply their knowledge in the Information Technology (IT) field
MBKM content should be adjusted to the student's program
Credit eligibility:
MBKM requires student experience during college (examples: Internship, Teaching Campus, Humanitarian Project, Entrepreneurship, Village Development, Research), then the student must have passed a minimum of 90 credits
For other MBKM outside the points above (examples: Student Exchange, Independent Study), the student must have passed a minimum of 60 credits
The Head of Lab/Prog approves the courses that will be recognized according to the student's activities during the MBKM. A maximum of 20 credits can be recognized. Things to consider when choosing courses to be recognized:
Internship courses (KP) can only be recognized for MBKM types that practice their experiences during college (examples: Internship, Teaching Campus, Humanitarian Projects, Entrepreneurship, Village Development)
The curriculum provides a maximum of 15 credits per semester of MBKM elective courses + a maximum of 5 credits of other courses to be recognized. The MBKM elective courses can be seen in the student catalog and in the bottom table.
For MK MKBM, it can be seen in Table 1 (position at the bottom). Example:
For students who take MBKM as an internship, the maximum number of MBKM elective courses that can be recognized are IT Professional Management, Industrial Experience, and Industrial Practice (15 credits)
Students take MBKM internships. It is also known that in the previous semester, students have also taken and passed MBKM internships. So the courses that can be recognized are Advanced IT → Professional Management, Advanced Industrial Experience, and Advanced Industrial Practise (15 credits)
Note:
MBKM elective courses that have the prefix "Advanced" are only used if in the previous semester, the student has taken MBKM with the same type
IT Professional Management courses can be recognized for all types of MBKM
Each type of MBKM has a maximum of 15 credits per semester that can be recognized
MBKM elective courses are considered to be able to fulfill the credit quota for elective courses in the program
In addition to MBKM elective courses, other courses (mandatory IF courses/mandatory programs/program electives) can be used to recognize MBKM results.
The Head of the Lab/Coordinator Program has absolute authority to determine the total number of credits to be recognized.
If there are remaining credits, students are allowed to take regular courses outside of MBKM in that semester but with the permission of the MBKM organizing partner.
Specifically for MBKM internships, the minimum recognition credits are 17 credits (including two credits of practical work) and a maximum of 20 credits. Students are not allowed to reduce the number of 17 credits. The remaining credits can be used to take a maximum of 2 regular courses. The determination of MBKM internship courses is regulated according to the study program policy, taking into account:
Compulsory/elective courses other than MBKM courses can be recognized as long as the company has a mentor who is able to provide good bootcamp/training/mentoring related to the course.
The material and learning outcomes provided to students through bootcamp/training/mentoring have received approval from the lecturer.
After being approved by the Head of Lab/Coordinator Program, students register for the MBKM program. Students can contact PAJ if they need the letters needed to register for the MBKM program. Example: letter of recommendation for the department
Students carefully and thoroughly follow the selection procedure determined by the MBKM partner.
If the final selection announcement is published BEFORE the Cancel Add/Special Case, then students input the recognition courses according to the supervisor's recommendations on the Cancel Add/Special Case schedule. Students input the recognition courses with the KP MA code specifically for non-exchange student MBKM and the KP MO code specifically for exchange student MBKM. If the final selection announcement is published AFTER the Cancel Add/Special Case, then:
Students must input regular courses without MBKM in the first stage of guardianship (FPP 1/Input MK 1). The courses entered are the courses that will be taken if the student fails to pass the MBKM selection.
If the student is declared to have passed the final selection, the student is required to contact the supervising lecturer so that the supervising lecturer can coordinate with the Academic Advisor (AA) to cancel the addition of courses. A recognition form was filled out by the supervising lecturer to facilitate coordination with AA.
Students register for the MBKM program they are participating in via the m.ubaya.ac.id website on the Academic > External MBKM menu. Things to note during registration are:
Upload a letter of parental consent in a free format and signed by the parent.
Input the code and parallel class of the course to recognize the MBKM results.
Write the proposed supervisor name from Ubaya in the Activity Abstract.
Selecting the final report and progress report on the MBKM activity evaluation form

Students are required to write down the progress of the MBKM activity in the MBKM activity log book via m.ubaya.ac.id and get a review (comments or suggestions) from the dobing.
At the end of the MBKM activity, students make a final report on the MBKM activity via m.ubaya.ac.id
At the end of the MBKM activity, students send the assessment results from the MBKM partner to the supervising lecturer and PAJ for the recognition process.
